Tríptic Vermut was born as a personal project rooted in a passion for original vermouth, the kind that was made with just three components:
White wine: Regardless of whether the vermouth is red or white, the base wine has traditionally been white (although many people think red wine is used).
Alcoholic herbal extract: This is where the key ingredient appears, wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), the same herb used for absinthe. Beyond this one, countless others can be added.
A touch of sweetness: Given that white wine is acidic and wormwood is very bitter, a touch of sugar is needed to achieve a good harmony of flavors. If we add white sugar, we will get white vermouth. If we add caramel ("burnt" sugar) or brown sugar, we will get red vermouth.
At Tríptic, we want to preserve the tradition of vermouth as it was born in 18th century Italy. At the same time, however, we are passionate about opening the door to new combinations, because while tradition is important, from time to time, so is creating new ones.
